Makeshift Lockpicks

If you don't know already, I'm new to not only this forum but to lockpicking too. I don't have a set of locks picks, and after looking around I've decided to either make a set out of hacksaw blades, or I saw these and was wondering if they would make good picks if they were modified a bit. Which do you think would be better to start with, homemade picks or these dentist tool looking picks?

Are you sure those aren't dentist tools? Making picks out of dentist tools is nice, but they can be pricy. As a begginer, you should either buy a set or make some out of hacksaw blades.

Actually you can pick up dentist tools for a song. The problem is that they don't have enough strength after you grind them down to be picks. I would go the hacksaw blade route or pick up some individual picks from online.

I've recently seen the "dentist" tools listed on ebay with the keyword locksmith in the description. I am not sure how well they work but they look joust like the ones in your pic. they weren't too expensive either
Total number of times I have successfully picked any lock: 3

Total number of unique locks picked: 2
