Stuck Yale H73 Lock on Hartmann Trunk

I have a Hartmann trunk with a Yale H73 lock that I used all the time for years. I have the key, but it sat for years unused. Now the lock doesn't work. I'd love to get the things inside it back out, and I'd hate to break the lock.

I've sprayed WD40 in the lock hoping it was just stick, but that did nothing. The key goes in, but perhaps not as far as it should? The top part of the notch is visible when the key is inserted as far as it will go. I can't remember if it used to be that way--maybe. I can then turn the key a quarter turn to the left, and back when it worked, I would feel a little resistance and the lock would spring open. Now, I feel a little resistance at the end of the turn and a small click, but the lock does not open.

I've tried prying the top part where the lock is and fishing around behind it to see if there's something I can pop, but I'm not really sure what I'm looking for. Any avice?

The locking flap looks like it is pulled too far down. Try wrapping a strap around the trunk to close the lid more and center the flap. Then press in on the flap before turning the key. There might just be too much pressure against the bolt for it to move as it should.

I've been trying this technique, to no avail. I laid the trunk down flat, with the side that has the lock attached to it on top, and I'm sitting on it right above the lock. It feels the same when I twist the key, and it already looks like trunk is shut right when I look at the seam where it opens-- the latches are all matched up perfectly, tight. It doesn't snug further shut when I sit on--didn't look like there's any give there at all to work with.

Anyone have an example of this kind of lock opened? I don't really understand exactly where the bolt slides within it.
