Good point. I actually used a six inch socket extension and whacked each screw with a small sledge hammer. The diameter of the socket extension was just smaller than the screw heads. I think it broke the rust a bit.
Yes - I used a 1/2 impact wrench with a large slotted bit. I had to keep pressure on the back of the tool to keep the bit from bouncing in the 1/4” slot. Otherwise the tool would mangle the screw (because my bit was substantially smaller than the screw slot).
Starting to think about the color I will be painting the safe. It was originally brown, which I don’t care for. Black is traditional. However I’ve seen some really cool colors on the internet.
