Lost key of old Chubb's patent safe

Forgot how to dial the combination on that old safe? Think you got the right numbers but the handle is stuck? What safe should you buy? Ask your safe questions here!

Lost key of old Chubb's patent safe

Postby abh123 » 21 Jun 2021 9:43

Dear LockPicking101 Community,

I am a novice lockpicker in Spain whose family has an old burglar/fire-proof safe from the Chubb brand, the area near the lock keyhole reads "CHUBB'S PATENT LOCK" (see images below).

This was originally from my great-grandfather, and we don't have the key and I've been told by a UK expert that there is hardly anyone in Spain with the ability to pick this lock in a professional way.

Do you have any recommendations on what I should do? Is there any chance that I could buy some lock-picking tools and crack this safe after considerable effort and research?

Thanks.

To some extend. Chubb will not be common in the region but the best lever lockpickers I know are from Spain so take any advice with a grain of salt.
It'll be very unlikely someone here can teach you how to pick these remote. I wouldn't even know the lock that's inside.

Pick up some lever locks a see how they are picked. Then pick up a few lever safes and see how they are picked.
Teach yourself to make the tools like 2in1 by modifying Chinese picks or silver soldering your own.
That can take you a few years but hopefully it's fun and you have an end goal.
