I am using the HUK brand of lock picks for a 7 pin lock.well with the lock i am practicing on I get the pins to set while picking to match the key exactly. But it won't turn or unlock. I've followed all the literature I could come across. ...the lit mentions a spool pin as far as I can see there are none ..does this website have any reading material or videos or insight to give me assistance I am not trying to learn this for malicious intent my mom ordered me the wrong tool for a different lock so now im just learning to not waste the money

so wait you arent old enough to order your own tools, but you have your own gun safe..
We honestly can't help you, it's just too hard to verify stories online. It could be your gun safe, it could be your dad's or a passed away relative, who knows, right? and we're not psychic so we can't tell who what when where and have to take forum visitors word for it. On the other hand if we give you instructions and it is your gun safe, well, now the instructions are posted here and someone can come along and use them to open a safe that isn't theirs.
before you bough the HUK, which doesn't always fit US made tubular locks, did you get the correct size and number of pins? a Southord 7 or 8 pin tubular pick will fit for sure, but those 7.0mm, 7.5mm, 7.8 mm Asian made $20 dollar tubular picks dont always fit all tubular locks well.
youtube has plenty of videos for you, hope this helps, that's all the help we can offer.

Long as you have a drivers license my shop would take the job, in my area, of course
I have a question I have a huk 7 pin lock pick kit the newer version I noticed the 7.8 mm will not work on a ace 2 lock so I ordered the other older version with the tention bar will that version work on a ace 2 lock???
Before I bought quality, tried some cheap ones, had to enlarge hole on pick to fit the Ace II. HPC and Southord Work. Worth the Money, if in the business, can also be used to make a key where the key is lost. If thinking of getting into Locksmithing, I would Practice Rekeying Locks. Very. Just need a follower, some shims, tweezers, a pick, decoder, pins. With no machine, you can rekey to any key you have around. Good Luck
Best tubular pick is the Deluxe Tubular Ace Pick from Pro-Lok it is a copy of the no longer available but even nicer Lee Tools pick. I refer it to the even more expensive Peterson pick which is over $400.
Been using my HPC TLP C model B 7 pin center tubular pick for over 25 years--I cleaned the slides & replaced the o rings a couple of times & it still works like new. I paid about a third what these guys want for one
