new Dave McOmie book! Safecracker

Forgot how to dial the combination on that old safe? Think you got the right numbers but the handle is stuck? What safe should you buy? Ask your safe questions here!

Started to read it today. It is a great, fun book! I think there is also a lot to learn from it. And it is great to get Dave known better. So far I know only technical writing and this shows nearly nothing about him as a person. From the photo he looks IMHO much more a safecracker than Jeff Sitar and especially these guys in the docufiction. It seems he is a great guy, which I probably sadly will never meet.

When Dave was younger, he looked like Michael J Fox--Is that in his book?

Great book

I got the sense I went along and saw first hand what was being done.
Dave doesn't give specifics but the general idea, technique and tools are discussed.

He tells the story how the US Government set the standard for their document safe locks choosing a lock that was very easy to open.
Some lobbying by a lock company resulted in only their lock being accepted with very lucritive commisions.

He tells how banks deal with vault lockouts and what I nightmare it can be when they need in before the next bussiness day.
