What part of the keyway to pick from?

Postby Challenger » 31 Oct 2021 7:13

I try to insert the pick directly under the pin stsck using a narrow hook. This often results in a pin being reset or overset. Picking from the keyway from off to the side works better but then the pick is being presented to the pin stack at an angle and this is difficult from the fact that the pick seems to jam in the keyway. Do most pickers attack the pins, while single pin picking, from the side or directly below the pins?
Thanks

It varies based on the keyway, your picking styles, the type of lock, etcetera.

Description made me think Tension Wrench, not the Pick. I do believe upper and bottom tension wrenches may give different binding/binding order. As well as from the sides like when you bend a 90 in the Tension Wrench?

Am back, just made me think picking first Medeco years ago. Used a Double half diamond, I would have pick on left or right side of keyway, then Push/Pull/lift up and down, each would bind sidebar til open, can't find the pick anymore, but some foreign picks have the double half diamond as half of an Auto Pick
