Mosler Safe - 1924?

Hi,

I recently picked up an old Mosler safe from a neighbor that moved. We have the combo and the door opens fine, but I was curious if there was any other info available on it. The serial number is on the handle and appears to be from around 1924, I think.

Honestly not sure.

The safe is a beast. I was curious if anyone knew what model it was to get an idea of its weight and any other interesting facts. It's kinda unyielding when it comes to moving it. I don't think we can easily move it into the house, so it may just stay in the garage.

Yeah, I bet! If you have a basement, I’d not risk putting it inside the house. Unless you actually want it in the basement. But it may arrive there in an unpredictable manner.

What are the measures dimensions of the safe?

The safe is 29.5" wide by 29.5" deep by 53" tall.
Not counting the wheels, the actual safe body is 46" tall.

I was guessing the safe was about 600 pounds, but have no clue.

Reading around the internet and other people's experiences, it seems like this safe may be closer to 2,000 pounds. Does that seem reasonable?

It seems far more reasonable! That is no Sentry or Walmart safe. It is the real deal.
