Trying to Identify Keyway

Postby GWiens2001 » 1 Mar 2022 21:47

Recently acquired a factory Abus padlock display with the locks. One of the locks is an 83/80 (Rock), and I am having difficulty identifying the keyway/section in the lock. I want to get blanks for it and impression a key for it.

Any suggestions?

Thank you,

Gordon

it's in the Vitess 1000 or 2000 family, or the Y14 Deltus family.

That's what I was afraid of. I have one of the Y14 Deltus oval cores in another one of these, though with a different keyway. It may be a while before I get this one open.

@GWiens2001:

You said this lock was part of a padlock display ?

Might be way easier to order another display lock of that type, display locks are usually keyed alike to a set of display keys.

Not this display. Many displays are keyed alike. But this one has six padlocks, five of which were SC1, all KD. The sixth one was an Abus 83/80, and it has this keyway.

Here is the display in question, all locks KD:

And here is a similar display, but on this one all the locks are KA, except for the SFIC.

Got the same display. They don't come with keys.

None of my displays came with keys. Now they all have keys, except for the one in the opening post. It gives me a chance to practice impressioning or picking and cutting a key to match, depending on how lazy I'm feeling. :mrgreen:
