Schlage “IntelLock 3000” - Gen 1?

Hello fellow Lock enthusiasts!

First time post , so I apologize if it’s not in the proper section.
Somewhat of a loaded post here. Bit of an intro, then question for the community regarding what I think is a unique, fun lock, which I know only a little about.
My father taught me how to rake and “pick” locks open at a pretty young age. Since then, I’ve always had a cheap set of pics around and enjoyed to pick a lock from time to time. Jumped a bit more into the hobby about a year ago and now am full blown picking every lock I can get my hands on! Also enjoy making my own picks.

Anyways, my uncle recently passed (personally was never very close with him) but my dad was responsible for taking care of his estate after his passing. My father brought back an interesting lock he found at his house.

I couldn’t find much info online so I actually called SCHLAGE customer support and a very helpful lady had me email her some pictures and she said one of her managers knew which lock it was and she attached aPDF for its original user manual.

Apparently it’s a “3000 - INTELOCK Lockset and deadbolt “
I asked about its age and she said their documents only showed this lock distributed in 1988 & 1989! (Which I thought was very cool for its abilities) (see pics and description)

My questions are:

Does anyone know if this lock set is rare?
Also, I’d imagine this has got to be one of the first residential keyless entry deadbolt/latch mechanisms considering its distribution Year of 1988, or am I completely wrong here?

What I also thought was very cool is that the lock is still on a factory SCHLAGE display. Almost as if this guy was once on the shelf of a locksmith or hardware store for display purposes.

Let me explain how it works before I ask my last question for anyone with any knowledge about this hardware.

When exiting, you’ll turn the knob latch button horizontal (as is standard) then push the button located on top of the deadbolt thumb latch plate. You’ll hear two beeps, which gives you 8 seconds to close the door behind you and spin the rotating ring to throw the deadbolt to the locked position. The door is now locked.

When you return, (you should have previously programmed in a 2-4 digit code) you can turn the knob either right or left and the display (above Knob) will either count up (0-1-2-3…) or count down (0-9-8-7…). Each time you reach the correct digit you release the handle, then turn right or left to get to your next number then release, etc.

Once the correct code is entered a “U” will flash on the display indicating that you can unlock the deadbolt by rotating the outer rotating deadbolt throw, then turning the handle!

Another pretty cool feature is how the bottom Knob lock, once decoded and unlocked will use an IR beam to indicate to the top lock to enable the ability to throw the latch! (See windows on last pic)

Would love to hear any thoughts you guys have on this lock!

Thanks!

Very cool! I noticed his is a bit different with the flatter knob. KN150 on the user manual. I’ll have to check that out!

Hey OP, do you happen to have the PDF? If so, can you please share it here or send it to me? I have one of these that decided to give up the ghost, and wanted to see what I can do. Thanks!
