NEW KID IN SCHOOL!

Postby Tpalacio79 » 13 Mar 2022 19:48

Hello everyone! I'm Tony. I've been a close up magician for many years, have been into puzzles and wanted to try lockpicking. Well, I did it! I threw money at Amazon and it send me some brand new floppy picks!

I'm on day 3 and have already spent more money on some masters and some cheapo ace hardware brand "Extreme security" lock. I bought a comfort lock from the ol' dollar general and use that when i need a quick fix. I got a # 5 and a # 3 and for some reason that 3 is putting up a fight. I'm also extremely new... I mean 3 days.. PHEW. But i tend to obsess over things so I probably have 30 hours behind a pick as of now. I even have a blister on my right middle finger.

I pick while I'm reading, watching youtube, and even when I'm dropping the morning deuce. I also give myself about 45 minutes while I lay in bed with the lights off so I can train feeling and hearing while engaging in some slow penetration of the keyway... (Save the jokes folks, I love it..... just not THAT much)

Well.... I started a new job today so I can afford a bunch of stuff I don't need because i can already tell that these picks and tensioners are not gonna cut it for long. I think they will hold me back but good for now. I need a few TOK's a couple quality medium hooks, a couple of snakeysnakes and a good quality Bogota and I think i will be alright for a while.

Looking at the tuxedo set..

I've watched EVERY LPL vid, nearly every LPN vid and most of Deviant Ollams penetration stuff. Also reading Detail overkill. Are there any other videos or channels you suggest?

About me.
I'm 42 years young.
I have an awesome dog named Nature.
I walked across the United states.
I'm a wildland firefighter.
I primarily live out doors.
I do graphic design, video and audio editing.
I love challenges and puzzles, I'm also tech savvy and can notice very minute details in people, places, things and situations.

Well, Let me let you let me get out of here... gonna get back to picking.

Your problem with the #3 is that first pin (closest to the keyway opening) is very low, while the one behind it is hiding way up high. Don't bother trying to rake/snake it open - you might succeed, but not very likely to do it consistently. Use your hook pick. Also, top of keyway is the best way of having the most keyway space for your pick.

Keep at it!
