Trouble picking Titan locks

Postby JohnnyMnemonic » 7 Apr 2022 13:02

First time poster here,

I've successfully picked a dozen different locks (ISEO, generic padlocks, no name cylinders)
with a pin tumbler design.

However, I haven't been able to pick any Titan lock that I own (2 padlocks and a cylinder).
I've just been able to rock the Titan cylinder with a city rake and open it a few times.

I own Southord PXS-14 with standard thickness picks.

Can anyone give me advice on how to pick Titan locks?

Thanks for any information :D

Hello and welcome to the forum! It sounds like you are off to a good start. That's the same Southord pick set I started with.

There are many locks named Titan. Could you post a photo or a web site link to the lock you are having trouble picking? (We prefer an actual photo of your lock, but a website link showing a photo of it works as well)

Please take a moment to also fill out your profile location so we know if you are possibly talking about Titan locks in America or in Europe.

Thank you,
Squelchtone

Light tension with the padlock, there's no spring tension to overcome.

Lighter tension with the cylinder. If you pick ISEO, this one is usually easier.

Ciao :-)

Thanks for the advice, I thought padlocks needed heavier tension.

Iseo is quite easy, I'm in the habit of opening it both directions both sides here and there.

Rocking with the snake rake to get the false set and setting that one spool is enough.

I'm starting to wonder if I was scammed.

Depending on the bittings, some locks are easier than others of the same brand and model. I'm sure you were not scammed.
Keep in mind that if you pick the same lock over and over, it becomes easier because you learn how it works.

Have fun :)

God I feel great.

Just opened the Titan K padlock (one in the middle).

The spool at position 2 was giving me hell all this time and reset all the pins,
I managed to set it with the deep hook.

(edit) Forgot to mention, I used heavy tension and shallow hook to set a couple of pins and get the false set,
then with the deeper hook set the one spool and it opened. :)

Congrats on the opening! Now lock it and play again. Try less tension and see if you can still get it open.

Cheers :)
