Attention to Tension

I'm wondering about how much tension people use when picking locks. I understand that tension varies during the pick but how much tension do people use generally when picking a lock. I'm finding that moderate tension works best for me. What is your tension recommendation? Thoughts?

I usually start with a medium tension and then vary it until I get an open.

I like to start with the lightest amount of tension needed to turn the cylinder & put my pick gun on it's lightest setting

Bill and I share preferring the lightest tension at first.

Lightest possible is an easier term to understand at first, because medium depends on the perception of the picker. Have seen keyways mangled and damaged by what a couple pickers consider to be medium tension.
