Hi, this is my first post to the forum & I'm very keen to be involved! I bought myself a Peterson GSP Ghost lockpick set after reading reviews & it seems to be reported as a good beginner lockpick set. I hope that proves correct.
Anyway, I also bought the above-mentioned lock at a local hardware store as I was itching to get started. I've watched a bunch of videos & understand the picking principle (practice appears to be lacking). I can successfully open this lock by using bottom of plug tensioning & raking, but cannot single pick it. I have been trying for hours/days/weeks to no avail.
I think that I may be pushing the pins up too far with my pick, but have consciously tried not to and still no success. I've opened the lock by raking & had a look at the pins to get an idea how much they protrude.
Got to say, I don't feel that I get a positive "click" when a pin is set & am unsure as to how much pressure I need to use to set a pin.
Is this a bad lock to learn on? or is it just me?. I don't wish to be beaten but am getting frustrated. I have a smaller masterlock 103 which single picks too easily so is no challenge.
Appreciate any advice you can provide.

I had one of these kick my **** not long ago at work. A seemingly easy lock but it took forever!
Try varying the tension along with keeping the shackle partially depressed so its not holding the plug from turning on the back end.

I picked 3 of these locks with a homemade pick. Despite being a 4 pin lock, the key bitting can still pose a challenge if there's a mix of high and low cuts. Keep trying. You'll get it eventually.
