"EY" 10 Pin Padlock Score !

Postby Newkey_Oldlock » 9 Dec 2022 17:32

I finally scored one of these mysterious beasts on Etsy for $10 ! (Pics below) I have been searching for one a long time that wasn't at a ridiculous price. I kept losing bids on them.
I am unsure of how uncommon they are but I look all the time for them and have only seen 3 or 4 for sale in the last 6 years. I have been looking ever since I saw Bosnian B pick one.
Also not really sure what the EY brand is or if it still exits. Not much info on them.
It has no key which should be interesting and is how I prefer to get most my padlocks at a discounted rate lol.
It has 5 top pins and 5 left side pins. I can see faint blind pin plugs on the side and on the apex of the front angle of the body. I still can't find where or what is retaining the cylinder.
The lock is very well built and tolerances fit and finish are really nice. It is spooled up pretty good from both angles.
Time to pick this puppy and see what I can do about finding a blank for it. I am excited and honored to be able to fit a key to this lock as a monument.
Anyone who has any info on this lock or further insight would be appreciated. I suppose finding a blank for this will be next to impossible. I may just end up machining my own.
I will update any additional findings with pics as I dissect this thing.

For $10 bucks it looks like a great deal. Should be a really fun pick! Good luck

That looks like a generic version of the HEAD padlock:

Congrats on finding your unicorn!

Hmm. I missed this video from LPL. Thanks for the vid ! That Head one was rather disappointing lol. Not even any side pins. I wonder if the Head is actually the rip off version of this EY ?
I haven't been able to pick it yet, it has been misbehaving, i have to grind my dimple cam pick thinner a few of the dimple pins set at a really tight clearance from the opposite wall, the pick order is really nasty. And the top keyway pins almost touch them. From what I can tell there is two really grindy serrated pins, one on the side one up top, and 4 spools. It is nasty, it false sets and traps the pick like a bear trap. they didn't cheap out on the security on this puppy !
