How to reduce the diameter of the pin inside the lock

Postby tkalfaoglu » 21 Feb 2023 8:31

The mortise lock I'm trying to pick has a central pin sticking out.. Because of that pin, I'm unable to use my two-in-one tool..
Is there a way to shave some of that central pin? or should I just wiggle it with a pair of pliers and get rid of the pin?
Many thanks, -t

I forgot to mention that I have two sets of 2-in-1 tools.. The ones with central hole, and the ones without.
The ones that DO have a central hole, the hole is too narrow and does not fit the lock I'm trying to open.
Thanks!

Have you considered creating a wide enough central hole in either of your tools? When I ran into issues with my tubular pick (on a totally different type of lock, of course) the easiest route was to modify my tools to preserve the condition of the lock itself.
