Could anyone offer a newby Suggestions for the best widest-ranging mortice impressioning kits, please?
I'm based in the UK. One of the big suppliers answered my question by saying "it depends on the area you live".

I appreciate that each kit is lock specific, so buying the full spectrum of kits will be expensive, so wondering if there is a good starter kit that covers a range of popular mortice locks.

If you simply want to impression a key to a pin tumbler lock, I can't see why your 'area' should matter?

I'm trying to navigate my way around the many impressioning/decoder kits.
Even understanding the difference between Pin & Cam pick/decoder and just decoders.

I really want to buy kits but can't seem to see through all the smoke and mirrors.
The manufacturers don't help or offer advice.

That is very intentional. The manufacturers don’t want criminals to buy their tools. The thinking on the manufacturers’ part is that if you don’t know what it is or how it is used, then you probably shouldn’t be buying it.

Just when you finally think you have learned it all, that is when you learn that you don't know anything yet.

Good thinking on their part and it must work because very few burglars plonk themselves down on a doorstep to decode and make impressions.

Burglars are not the only class of rogue about which a security system administrator (or security tool manufacturer) need be concerned. Just sayin'.
