Pick kit to start with?

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Pick kit to start with?

Postby OhioGuy12 » 7 May 2023 12:50

I'm new to lock picking. Can someone recommend a good pick kit to start with? I like this one because it's covertly disguised as a pen, but is this a sufficient kit for use on most common locks? And is $40 about what you'd expect to pay on a pick kit or should I look for a cheaper one?

I've seen the pen pick set and while it's pretty, it's not as functional as a simple pick set should be

Have you used this kit? That's a lot cheaper than the pen pick set and the transparent padlock is really cool. I may just buy this one!

Never tried that exact kit but I've used many of the picks shown

I order it, so we shall see. I think it will be a good learning kit. Thanks for your recommendation!

If you want a small set of high-quality tools, I suggest the Multipick ELITE Minimum Pick Set. I would avoid products using any other form factor to keep every component replaceable. You pay for what you get with locksmith tools.
