Elgin lock

Hello all ...

A newbie here and my first question on the forum. Have been into locksport for a few months now and honing my skills. Doing well but nowhere near what I'm sure your levels are. I obtained an Elgin padlock recently I'm having a hard time picking. I am finding little to no info on this lock or company other than they were made by a company named Elko (?) and they were made primarily for Sears (?). The lock and key is stamped with a F1694, altho the key looks worn and will not open the lock. Does the F1694 indicate bitting (altho I have no idea where I would find a code for this).

This is purely out of curiosity and certainly not a major deal .. any info on this lock or company would be appreciated.

Thanks
MStibitz

Have you tried a spritz of lube in your lock yet?

A picture of the lock in question would likely produce more results. They made a variety of locks.
