HELP! Aaron safe with Yale combination dial, locked out!

Forgot how to dial the combination on that old safe? Think you got the right numbers but the handle is stuck? What safe should you buy? Ask your safe questions here!

HELP! Aaron safe with Yale combination dial, locked out!

Postby hotrod095 » 4 Oct 2023 1:27

Hey all, I am hoping to get some insight before I call a local locksmith.

I bought a house with a wall safe. The door has a plaque that reads "Aaron safe". It does not have a twist handle, only a combination in the center that reads "YALE 9670." The gentleman I bought the home from must have closed the safe accidentally at one point. I did ask if he had a combination but he does not know it.

Any help with this would be really interesting and could safe me a few $$ in the long run!

Regards,
Frank.

Never heard of an Aaron safe but have heard of an ANNON safe. Haven't seen an ANNON in the field for 30 years. If it only has a dial in the center then it probably has a spring latch which means the dial is the opening handle. Another thing, I have never seen or heard of an AANON safe that uses a spring latch type lock. Please include photos.

Sometimes you can turn the dial right to open without knowing the combo. I wouldn’t try that before posting pictures of the lock. You might be lucky and some of the wheels are still in place.

Probably don’t try this unless you feel confident you know how to tell when you pick up wheels. And if you’ve spun the lock already, it’s too late
