Daughter Locked Bedroom From Inside

Postby rsain101 » 2 Aug 2024 20:52

Hi all,

Hope someone can advise.

I'm from the UK visiting in-laws in the US and I think my daughter has locked this bedroom door from the inside and then closed it.

Does anyone recognize this lock or have any advice if there is an easy trick to open the door.

We have they keys for other doors in the house with the same lock (and the keys obviously fit perfectly), but won;t open this one.

Any advice appreciated!

Most doorknob locks are as easy to defeat as beginner padlocks, except that the cylinder is typically turned counter-clockwise to unlock them, at least here in Canada. You should be able to use a rake to quickly set the key pins, then use a tension tool to turn the cylinder and unlock the doorknob.

I dont think first time poster is a locksport hobbyist with a lock pick set at their disposal.. they're looking for this one weird trick that locksmiths hate.

Op, ask your inlaws for their CVS card and slip the latch with it like the guy in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTbscJ1hm4E

Thanks everyone. I gave it a good hour trying to use a couple of old membership cards, but the latch had a bit too much material before it tapered down and this was preventing the card from slipping over it.

I ended up having to climb up and ladder and break the bedroom screen - luckily the sliding window wasn't locked!

You may not of had enough room for the card, may Have needed to give the Door a Pull first because of Deadlatch.
Good you had Minimal Damage.
Hope You're Enjoying over here.
