Adesco Floor Safe Help

Postby artm » 9 Nov 2024 12:28

I have an old Adesco safe from the 80s and, of course, I have lost the combination. :D The model # is 1406. It's about 12" square, encased in concrete, so it's too heavy to move. I don't mind paying someone to open it but I'm getting quotes from $450 to $800. Does this seem reasonable? I don't know if I left anything in there so it's a bit of a gamble to pay that much to find out. I'm in Ventura county Calif. Any recommendations most appreciated.

Thank you.

That's the going rate, we would need to see a photo to tell you more about how hard or easy that one is to get into.

$450 feels low, $800 feels higher than I would be comfortable with. $600-$700 to drill and scope it, including if it has hardplate to penetrate, based on time. You're mainly paying for the hours of drilling and the experience of the person to drill as few holes in the correct locations to slip a 1/4 inch or smaller scope into the hole and turn the dial and align the wheels to open the door, then to hopefully patch the hole professionally and not with just JB Weld.

Good luck,

I can't seem to find this exact safe, but it seems Adesco liked to use a Sargent and Greenleaf 6730, which is an excellent starter lock if you'd like to try manipulation. There are manipulation guides available to download online, or a few manipulation tutorial videos on youtube.

I've opened at least one of these safes-- of course I didn't manipulate it, I like affirmative action
