How old is my Mosler safe? Year of Manufacture Serial Number

Forgot how to dial the combination on that old safe? Think you got the right numbers but the handle is stuck? What safe should you buy? Ask your safe questions here!

From the documentation here, if it is the serial number, doesn't match up with any of the listed numbers. If there was a number on the dial knob it is long lost to history, very worn. Please see the attached picts.

My crane scale says 2100lbs.

I don't have a concrete answer for you. As I understand it, those numbers are for identifying which part goes with each safe, something like that. This safe pre-dates cnc manufacturing

I'll wait for others more knowledgeable to weigh in

If 412112 is the serial number then it should be from 1942.

Can Mosler safes have a new combination made? I have the opportunity to purchase one, probably 1950"s made. It also has a key slot on the end of the handle, not sure if that is needed to lock & unlock?
Any help would be appreciated.

Only really cheap locks can't be changed. Most can be changed with one method or the other. Key change (with a hole in the cover and a change key) and mesh change (wheels have to be split and differently assembled) are the most common mechanisms. If you have a photo of the safe and/or lock we can give you more information.
