URGENTLY seeking advice on an old Juwel wall safe

Postby rooftac » 18 Feb 2025 13:12

Hello,

I live in France with my grandparents who have Alzheimer's and they have an old safe in the wall. (please see pictures: https://ibb.co/67k808DY
https://ibb.co/nqnzqK8K)

Neither of them remember the combination so about 2 weeks ago I started learn safecracking to open the safe for them as a present for their anniversary.. they don't remember what's put in the safe. On youtube I watched as many videos as I can the Safecracking for Everyone series and the Safe Manipulation Course.. I tried to apply the techniques I learned from these courses but I failed. The safe is pretty old and the dial is not very résponsive and I can't really hear the small sounds inside the safe very well. I tried the factory original combinations too, of course.

The main problem is that I don't know if this 2-wheel or 3 wheel.

Then I searched the website of Juwel and emailed more than 20 Juwel products resellers in Italy since I found Juwel is an Italien brand. Basically 50% of the resellers say that this is 2-wheel safe and the other 50% say that this is 3-wheel. Their opinions are divided.

I want to just like to know if this is 2 wheel or 3 wheel because if it is 2 wheel I can maybe try all combinations. Due to the sentimental value of the safe and to respect the heritage of my grandparents, I want to avoid the destructive method to open the safe as much as possible.

Thank you very much to you on this forum for your help. I sincerely appreciate it.

Hello, can you feel the wheels pick up, and count them? I think there are 3 wheels.

That safe is manipulation resistant, not the best choice for a beginner.

I suggest an auto dialer to try all the combinations and open the safe without any damage... or a safe tech that can drill one small hole to scope and open the safe for you.

Cheers :)

No reason to be sorry, we've all been beginners.

From my manipulation tutorial, here's the quote you're looking for

Now you're ready to count the number of wheels in the lock. To do so turn the dial at least 4 times to a number far away from contact points area. Usually 50 is the perfect choice. Then change direction and count the number of wheels you'll pick up. You should feel a small click and some more resistance offered by the newly picked up wheel every time you pass at the number you have left them, 50 in this example. Once you have picked up all the wheels, passing at 50 would give no more feedback.

Good luck :)

There were two different locks used on the Juwel line of safes. One was the C1 made by SERCAS ( https://www.flickr.com/photos/psicologi ... 581760727/ ) and the other a pretty standard S&G lock. Both have 3 wheels. I think yours has an S&G lock. It can be distinguished by how the dial is numbered, but I can't remember, so just a believe.

Can you have a gap of more than 10 between two contact points? I think the contact points for this safe is 101 and 114 (or red 1 and red 14)..

The SERCAS C1, that I have here has CPs at 1.5 and 13.5. It has only two wheels. The dials of your and my lock look extremely similar. So your lock is probably the SERCAS. Instructions are at https://www.safe.ru/upload/instructions ... chiave.pdf .

Thank you so much
But didn’t you say in your previous reply that mine looks like the S&G lock? And that both S&G and SERCAS C1 have 3 wheels?
Also, are your contact points also in the red zone?
Thanks again, you’re a lifesaver!!

Sorry to insist, but did you count the wheels?
If you're not able to count the wheels, I doubt you'll be able to find and measure contact points.
No offense, I'm just trying to point you in the right direction.

Take care

Hi femurat,

It was very difficult to feel difference but I tried and yes I think it only has two wheels.
The contact points are much more resistant in this safe's lock so it gave more feedback than when I tried to count the wheels at the 50 graduation.

Thank you for your advice, please don't hésitate to insist!
