TEICOCIL locked me out

Postby lockedoutbyteicocil » 5 Apr 2025 11:39

Have you ever been in a situation where the door lock is stuck in the locked position being unable to open the door because the lock's latch won't unlock completely? In other words it no longer unlocks and I can't open the door. I have tried lubricating it etc. but it is permanently stuck in the locked position. It's not stuck in the crooked position like it once was when it locked me out of my house, but the latch is too deep in the "cavity" to unlock the door. We used this lock for almost 10 years, several times a day, every day, and it worked, but today it is locked and we cannot get into the garage with it. The lock is made by TEICOCIL manufacturer SISA 725 (page: 014) on Teicocil website.

The TEICOCIL lock has locked me out of my house for a second time now and this time it can not be unlocked. Can it be taken apart while the door is locked?

Another question is, what to do in this situation? The carpenter who installed this lock and the (oak) door tried to unsuccessfully open (unlock) it and told me the only solution he sees is to either cut the latch (through a very narrow gap between the door and its frame or to cut all the three hinges. He prefers to cut the latch, but I don't want to cut anything and to risk damaging the very expensive door that can not be made again or replaced since no carpenter in our area is ever available to do that.

A locksmith should be able to drill and snap the cylinder, remove it, and then use a tool to flip the locking mechanism to the open position and then fit you with a new euro profile cylinder.

Don't try doing this yourself and dont let your carpenter do any more work on the lock as they are not a locksmith.

Great advice. Thank you!
