The best thing to do is to visit some of the sites that sell authentic lock picks and copy their designs if you don't want to purchase them.

well they have both "THE RAKE" and like the half diamond...which is best? The rake is just bent...isn't it which do you recommend...?

There's a link in blue on the left hand side of your screen. It's the one that says lockpickshop.com Click on there and scan through the pictures. In specific, check out the rake, the half diamond, the single ball, and the hook pick. Look at all the tension wrenches. Copy these designs for your homemade ones.

A rake. It's the one with with the "s"-type tip.

the basic answer timmy is there isnt a best one, just differnt picks for difernt locks.

There is a fiddenrce between a pick and a rake, the snake snaked one is used to basically rake the pins and says the diamond is used for lifiing the pins one by one

I actually use a rake quite often for both purposes, I'll flip it one way and use it as a rake with the "bump" towards the pins, or flip it around and use the tip to single-pick.

So I should make one of each? A snake and one for picking them one by one?
