Kraft listen, I've read your previous posts, you must learn to use the search button it is right beside the group button at the top.
Lock picking is an art, not a means of entry.

Here is the link to the *STICKIES* in the FAQ section. I did this without the 'search' feature.
Please read EVERYTHING before posting again.

Kraft, he's called Jabba, not Jaba. And he won't like you for mispelling his name, no he won't like it at all. Han tried to f**k with Jabba and Jabba froze him. Don't mess with Jabba dude.

As for your java settings, they are your problem, not ours. If you try to make them our problem by always posting stupid questions then we're going to share our problems, frustrations and anger with you in return.

So go fix your settings now or go f**k yourself. It seems like a bloody Kwikset is smarter than you.

Okay people.

While I admit a certain level of frustration with certain new users, I think that we may have overstepped the line.

From this point on, we don't tell users to go do ANYTHING to themselves. Anatomically impossible or not.

We will attempt to refrain from calling any of our users names, or calling into question their intellectual abilities.

Oh, and please do try to refrain from spewing invective or obscenities that result from feelings of frustration. Cursing at a situation from time to time may be acceptable. Cursing at a person is not normally considered polite.

Thank you all for taking the time to read this.

Ok, while I was aware of the fact that cursing at certain persons may not be considered polite, I accepted the risk in this case. And while I'm not too worried about the impact on the poor little target himself, I see that it makes a very bad impression on new users or users who don't know the posting history of certain other users. No need to scare newbies away from participation.
So I guess I'll try to leave those certain users alone. For now

Whether he deserved it or not, Romstar is doing his duty as a mod to keep people in line. So do as mamma Romy says, or he'll wash your mouths out with soap. 8)

Ok, Im agreeing with Rom here, why do you have permission to flame people when if you go back and search your own posts, your fist few would sound nooby and stupid to you, so dont you DARE go around calling peple nnobs and the like when you know you were one too, so how about all the non newbies to the forum go F***ing grow up and remember the days where you were a noob....

Speaking out on behalf of the wielders of the flame of Anor

Postby PickPick » 12 Dec 2004 11:49

Depends on whom you're talking to, I just checked out my very first posts and they were far from being noobish. And while I see that it's a very bad idea to become a sort of professional flamer like some members intend to, you have to see the context in this case. Kraftdinner is.... special.

And about having the permission to call other people noobs, I remember when I was starting up and how I researched and learned and researched more and tried and failed and so on. While I got a little bit of help to start from other club members I basically pulled myself up by my own bootstraps and I think I managed to pull myself up far.

And now I'm here, most of the time replying to other peoples questions. For several reasons.
1. If they learn how to pick and develope their skills they might start to pose interesting questions or post even more interesting answers to my questions.
2. It feels nice to help people.
3. If you don't educate them they start posting crap in your threads and make the search engine harder to use because you have to wade through a lot of their BS before finding something decent (that's the main reason why it doesn't pay off to ignore them).

Therefore I try to help newbies. But if they refuse to accept that help or ignore it, it makes me angry. And if they do it again and again and again it makes me even more angry. And then I think it's my right to flame then. It may not be the most useful thing to do but it is justified.

Btw, I think that the above would fit for a lot of regulars, not just me. And while I know that it might sound somewhat like "I'm above there and you're down below" it's not meant that way, I just don't know how to put it better (oh yes, I'm not a native speaker so if you misunderstand it, it's not my fault anyway, lalalalala  )

Please spare me that one. Is Keyman still going on with his unpickable Abus plus?

I agree with PickPick on the flaming strategy.

If someone needs help, I don't mind steering them in the right direction. If they still refuse the help, or can't figure it out, I remove myself from the thread. I still read the thread, and shake my head repeatidly. ( sometimes slapping my forehead so hard, I don't wake up for days. )

The search engine would work very well if we could stay on topic. Mazola parties ( had to put that in there, just because we are #1 on Google ) took the thread way off topic. And thus, makes searching difficult.

When I joined this forum, I was not aware of the 'search' button. I was 'informed' of my error, and have tried to help others also. Let's all remember the new guys are the ones that will someday replace us. Given good training, they will surely do well.
