i have been found, and have had friend that have been found with picks by the police - you say its a hobby they don't really care...maybe he can get permission from the gov and go through a security check with the police and make little card saying we are aloud to carry picks - just like toool do

that's a good idea - I live next to a policeman - and while he's a great bloke, I'm still too chicken to tell him about it. most of us would have very little to hide - in fact I've been through a few criminal history checks because of the nature of my job - I don't even mind being registering myself as a pick owner if that's necessary.

I don't mean to hijack the TOOOLUSA thread, but these are issues for all spawns of TOOOL and SSDEV. Barry mentioned in the h2k video that they've got a card with membership number on etc. that would satisfy the "proof of which shall be on the person" legitimate ownership clause of most laws anyway.

I've mentioned before that perhaps the ruxcon conference will be a good place to recruit members.
Oh look! it's 2016!

yes, that would be a very good place to recruit members, shouldn't really be too hard to get government permission, if we are polite about it, but they may be a bit wellcocerned about lots of people carrying around picks and learning all about it.

Is carrying picks against the law? If you are found with them what would they do? Just take them from you?

In australia they will ask you what they are for, other than that they wouldn't care

What law? in case you havent heard theres more than one country, state and city out there with laws. your profile doesnt say where you are and your message dosnt ether.

most places its ok to carry picks as long as you arent commiting a crime. some places it isnt.

Well the area I'm concerned with most right now is New Jersey, and I've talked to local and state Law Enforcement, and my lawyer, and it is A O.K., as long as your not doing naughty things with them, and have them for legitimate purposes such, as a hobby, or for sport, or are a locksmith.

and naughty things I mean by,

( a link and quote from renderman, a well known hacker)

I only pick locks that I have bought, been given, or have permission to pick. If I'm out behind a radio shack at 3am picking the back door, please bust my ass.

heh.
