Does any know the layout of the lock of a trophy case lock? I assume it would not be a difficult lock, but it would be nice to know how it works.

The lock is a cylindrical lock, here's a picture of one. http://www.leetransport.net/detail.asp?prod=560
as far as proof of the lock being mine, i can't give you any except for my word that my school doesn't use those kinds of locks and being a private school they can afford higher quality locks.

Hah my school has a trophy case and the locks on them are never even locked... Maybe that is because there is only pictures in there because we have no trophys really.

yeah, it's the MOST simple design I believe I commonly see (including the locks out of the 25 cent machines) .
This was the very first lock I had ever picked...and I was about 11 or so. I've seen some with only 3 tumblers. I currently have that particular one in my gun cabinet...and it takes about 4 seconds for me...but that's with a single tooth pick and fingernail clipping (jk).

Lmao what dumb newb would want to steal their schools trophy
Or maybe it not his schools...maybe mynomadsoul is on the high school football team and he is going to pull a prank on his rival school and take their trophy. Lol, in that case, he wouldn't be wrong about the lock not being his schools
Either way, those are junk locks and can be picked no problem.

ok thanks guys. I didn't think it would be too hard, it just looks sort of different than locks on doors.

I love to pick things just to see if I can do it...ya know? I mean it's pretty funny, humans trust ANYTHING behind a lock. Just imagine the thing you want most and will probably never get...is it behind a lock? (talking about physical possessions)
Anywho...I think its a wonderful feeling to open something and have access to something that is so valuble, that you cannot even comprehend it's value (unless it has a price tag )...and just turn around and close it back up with empty hands . Just lets you know that you are better than some type of people out there I guess -shrug-.
Anyways...BE SAFE!!! -throws a condom at your face!-

I think you would have to be relatively dumb to not be able to comprehend the value of something (and this is exluding little children, obviouosly)
Being able to pick locks doesnt neccessarily make you better than people, maybe just a bit more skilled.
And that last line, about the condom, i think that was pretty stupid

What is a trophy worth to you? If it were your trophy...would it be worth more to you than someone else? I hope it would mean more to you than someone else. Pickey wrote:Being able to pick locks doesnt neccessarily make you better than people, maybe just a bit more skilled.:
I wasn't actually saying that picking a lock makes me, nor anyone else better than anyone. I was stating that being able to open up anything that is behind a lock, which is probably one of the most trusted mechanical devices, and simply turning around without taking anything makes you better than someone that would think about stealing it everyday. WHAT??? YOU MEAN IT DIDN'T HAVE AN IMPACTING AFFECT IN YOUR LIFE?!?!?!? v_v
I'm just joking a bit man, that's just how I am. But I was serious about the other stuff. O.o

i am trying to pick a cabinet lock, and got a little question about it:
the lock is very easy to pick, it just takes like the lockpick inserted and tilted a bit to lift the pins to the shearline. Then i turn the tension wrench around, but when the cylinder has made a half rotation, it gets stuck somewhere. It isn't falling in a second line of pinholes, cause i can turn the cylinder back to the starting position without picking it again. it just gets stuck when it makes a half rotation. with the key there is no problem, and at the place where it should get stuck you just feel a very little nudge in the key.
what is this? this lock looks pretty cheap to me, i can pick it to but i can't open the cabinet.

The lock has the same type of resistance, at the same spot with the key? I bet the driver pins are trying to enter the opposite side of the plug.
