New Picks!

Postby Eagle » 18 Dec 2004 17:13

Hi all!

I am going to buy some new picks. I've decided that I will go with the non-stainless steel handels (standard) because I'm new to the hobby. Here is my list:

C rake - SP-10

Large diamond SP-06

S rake- SP-11

Small diamond SP-07

Short hook - SP-09

L rake SP-12

Which rake do you prefer? I've read that the L rake is popular, but I am clueless about the C rakes performance compared to the S rake.

In addition, which is your favorite, the Large diamond or the Small diamond?

Finally, should I consider ordering a long hook opposed to the Short hook?

Thank you very much, :D

The diamonds will depend on what size keyhole you most commonly encounter.
I find a short hook much more productive than a long hook.
The best lock pick is C4 followed by a sledge Hammer

The two picks I use most often are the sp-10 and sp-07. (i assume you are talking about southord picks) i have an sp-12 but do not like it, at all, maybe im stupid but I do not have anywhere near the ammount of success with that as I do a small diamond or c rake. i prefer the half diamond. i have had almost no success with the sp-12 except with a few small master locks. the s rake and c rake are both good. i use the s rake on larger locks, and the c rake on the smaller, (when i do use a rake, its usually this one.) but i guess its all preferance. also, dont buy a long hook yet. i have only used mine a couple of times for opening a warded lock. the small hook is better but most of the time i just stay away from the hooks, i really love the half diamond.

Thanks maldotcom2.

What is the purpose of the twist in a "Twist-Flex" tension wrench? I mean, why is there a twisted tension wrench?

It is twisted so you don't have the edge of a tension wrench digging into your fingers as you pick.

That is really good advice, walrus. Thank you :D

I will take your advice about the long hook and half diamond. Yes, I was referring to the SouthOrd picks.
