TROPHY CASE LOCK

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

TROPHY CASE LOCK

Postby thelangman1 » 24 Dec 2004 2:16

Here's the picture of the lock that mynomadsoul0 and I are trying to get open. His post offers an example of the lock we're trying to open, but below you'll find actual shots of the lock. It opens into a trophy case. I'd love to get some anti-amateur and real professional opinions on this. Anybody out there who thinks they have any advice to give, we could use any help you'd have. Thank you

For example, would a lock pick gun do it? Would a kit break it? What we're looking for is every way possible to get into besides breaking the glass.

The trophy case lock shouldn't be that hard in my opinion. Add something to scale, so that we may all get a good idea as towards the size of the lock itself. Most locks affixed to cases aren't that hard. From the selection that I've seen, they come usually equipped with 4 to 3 pins.

Plus, the sheer fact that there are gaps in the locks suggests that the mechanism itself wasn't created with that great of precision. Thus creating more and more sloppy tolerances.

My first observation of difficulty would probably have to be that the lock is upside down. Most UK lock-enthusiasts normally deal with this, but here in the US, we're accostimed to what I would deem 'vertical locks.'

Start off with some padlocks that you can pick, and pick them upside down. This should help a great deal, because normally, you're moving your picks above the wards, where in this case, you would be moving them down.

Although from the picture, there seems to be a great lack of wards themselves.

Hope this was some help. I'm not the professional you were hoping for. Just a constant forum reader.

well, it's a simple lock installed very poorly (doesn't fit the hole in width nor length). it's a lock in a glass window, so if you want to break in, you just smash the window. so there's no real need for high-security locks

the lock has no warding, you've got all the room you want to put in your tools. most likely it's one of those locks that opens if you put anything in it and wiggle a bit ;)

Why do you need to get into your schools trophey case?

I'm starting to regret the information that I've provided.

Find a thin piece of metal (about 5-10cm long) and bend it in to a half circle, stick it in the shear line and push it towards the pins, start picking from front to back without tension wrench.. When all the pins are set insert a tension wrench and open it... hope u understand what i mean
