Mila Locks

Postby spider » 29 Dec 2004 9:57

I've picked a mila lock on a patio door, the pick got stuck, i've now got it out. But when you look into the key way you can see the first pin at the top, but at the bottom of the keyway in the front it looks like there is a pin obstructing the keyway. I can't put the key back in to lock it from the inside, which isn't a problem as i can lock it from outside. What i want to know is why does this happen, when i pick these locks

Lube the lock with wd40, then try probing the inside of the lock with a pick carefully. DONT FORCE ANYTHING Once you figure it out whats obstructing the keyway try to remove/move it. Then try to reinsert the key.

If you try to remove, you might try magnitizing the tool you're removing it with, as the part is probobly metal.

DO NOT lube the lock with WD-40. After time WD-40 becomes thick and sticky, this will ruin your lock.
Lock picking is an art, not a means of entry.

I think this WD40 debate has been argued in other forums - in the UK we don't seem to have the heat/humidity problems that there are in other parts of the world so I use WD40.

I would suggest dumping that Mila though, they are really poor for security
sledgehammers make excellent back up picks!
