Finally managed to get this little sucker open :D

http://tinypic.com/14o75h

My dad gave it to me the other day saying that I would never be able to pick it. Clearly the wrong thing to say!

I had to use *really* light tension and even then the mushroom (?) spools falsely set readily. I finally picked it by using a slimline Southord snake to scrub the pins. Then when the security spools set I gently turned the plug anticlockwise until the pins didn't bind and pushed down with the snake to get the pick past the heavy warding. Changing over to a half diamond I then set individual pins whilst maintaing really light torque and incorporating a kind of gentle rake across pins I wasn't sure of....

After opening it the first time I managed to do it again within 10 minutes. I think I'll give it another go but I do like looking at it open like that  plus I want to hand it back opened!

It took me almost 2 weeks of off and on picking to get my first diskus. Mine had a really deep setting pin and I was not depressing it far enough

Congrats!

Thanks. This lock had obviously been lying around for ages as it was really clogged up with oil and grime. I had to flush it out and fiddle with it for ages just to get some kind of feedback from the pins.
