"ListinUP" handheld sound amp

Postby iworathong » 29 Dec 2004 14:48

Recently I was browsing the boards and noticed a thread on combo locks so I started to get really interested. I saw the video of the guy who can open the valt and safe locks in like 5 miniutes and I was amazed. I decided to try out a few combo locks. So I went to Radio Shack and bought a "ListinUp" sound amplifier because some of the websites said that it may be helpful. The sound dosnt always sound right and it can transfer unwanted sounds but again this board inspired me. I remeber reading about the loud clicks that would signify setting a pin. I have never heard these said clicks so I came to the conclusion that if I cant hear the pins setting then this may help me out a bit on a lock I was having trouble opening. It became extreamly effective and I can now open both of my padlocks that I practice on and one deadbolt. This has helped me tremendously and i just thought that it may help some other newbies, like myself, to conquer the lock they have been struggling on. This little toy only costs about $10 from radio and i have deemed it very helpful. =) Just my opinion on this little item.

If you want that tool to be able to fit into regular locks aswell as combos, get a needle ( injection type ) and stick it to where the sound is to be recieved.

remember that you should practise without it so that you can get the feel. This just increases the ammount of equipment you need to carry.

Remember this probably won't work on alot of safes, especially since they tried to fix the listening for the clicks problem in the 60's. So I would suggest if you need to open a safe, and you don't have the combo, for instance you got it a yard sale, and the owner didn't have it anymore, then I would suggest prying off the dial, and removing the discs, and replacing them, and probably the dial as well. This will assure the lock will work the way it is suppose to, and allow you to set your own combination, and get the lock open.
