Lock Pinning Sets.

Postby Pickermeapie » 2 Jan 2005 15:59

Here is a question for you locksmiths. I have done searches on google and on this site looking for places to purchase lock pin sets and have had no avail. Could you tell me where I could look to purchase pin sets? I have found some on ebay and such, but I'm pretty sure locksmiths don't go to ebay for them. Thanks in advance for your help.

www.lockpicks.com has a rather nice selection of pin kits.

Yea, I have looked at Lockpicks.com but the problem their is they only have schlage, weiser, and kwikset pins. I was looking for American, Master and Corbin Russwin pins as well.

One of the Universal pin kits may do what you need. Or, you could email Barrett at lockpicks.com to see if he can order you up the Lab kit(s) you would need.

Pin Kits

Postby Pickermeapie » 2 Jan 2005 16:35

Do you know off hand if the universal kits usally carry the security pins that are in american locks? Also, when I do get the pins, do I just use a S&D key to cut a change key? or do I have to bring out the micrometer? Thanks again for your assistance

The quick look I just took at http://www.lab-lockpins.com/cathome.htm didnt reveal a Mini-DurX kit for American locks, although a security pin kit is available. Be aware that SFIC and some padlocks use a smaller diameter pin than the "Universal". I think you should be able to get on well with the S and D keys though.

Universal Pin Kits

A couple of other options - if you are in the States, head down to Home Depot. They carry a universal pin kit for $US60 - Model KRP003

Or you can go to Locksmith Tool & Supply.

Another is Southern Lock & Supply.
You will have to dowload their catalog in PDF format. Look for the catalog link on the left side of the screen.

These were all great! I particularly liked Sothern Lock though. Thanks for all of your assistance!
