I've been asked to replace one of these due to the customer losing her keys. Can the cylinders (outside, and on inside handle) be replaced, or is it an entire lock replacement ?.

I was going to have a go at impressioning, but she doesn't know where she lost the keys - so best to supply new key combination.

I've changed the cylinders on ERA "security" Rim locks before, swapping the outside cylinder and then re-pinning the handle plug to match. Not sure on the Yale though, as the exterior presentation isn't a standard rim cylinder.

Cheers

As pinky says yes you can replace the cyl as under all the heavy case it is a ' standard ' rim cylinder, although it will be 6 pin and depending on the age it may be the HSS profile ?

So perhaps plan on re-keying both cylinders asuming you can get some HSS precuts.

Or buy 2 x 6 pin KA cylinders.

Or use 2 x 6 pin cylinders and re-pin the second.

the internal cyl may not be available though ? The external is not a problem but I cannot recall whether the internal one is standard or a special type unique to that lock .

OK, does anyone know the codename of the 6 pin cylinders please? They're not listed in Aldridges' catalogue so I spoke to them this morning and rather surprisingly, they thought they just take the standard 1109 5 pin cylinders, despite the catalogue stating it's a 6 pin cylinder!

Duffells' catalogue says cylinders are not available - perhaps they're referring to the internal cylinder only?

Any help with where to get these, order codes, anything, would be much appreciated, TIA.

Technically the standard cylinder is a 1109-5 and the six pin version is 1109-6.
To meet BS3621 you need to use a 6 pin, just make sure its the old YA1 section not the newer BS1.
