Master Lock No. 101

Postby xslayerx92 » 9 Jan 2005 19:47

Hey I found a lock lying around it is a Master Lock No. 101. It is about 20 dollars, because of the size (im assuming). http://www.masterlocks.com/item_master.asp?int_id=1063 that link has information about the lock. I wanted to know if it would be decent first lock to try picking. Im recieving my first set of picks in the mail in a few days and wanted to make sure this lock would work and wasnt too hard. Thanks in advance for ne feedback.

Looks pretty good, no security pins, removable cylinder, etc. Take the cylinder out and take out 2 or 3 stacks of pins, and start practicing from there. Be careful when you take the cylinder out though, or you can have fun playing find-the-damn-springs.

You would've found that most rekeyable padlocks will have a hex screw in the hole where the shackle goes, that you can get at once you unlock it. Buggs is right, when you take it out, it's best to have the padlock in a bag so if and when the springs and pins come flying out, they don't have anywhere else to go.

Those locks run for about 30 dollars over here. They are most commonly used on walk-in refridgerators around here. They are really just like an oversized no.21 and not really good for securing antthing of value.
