Picked my first lock today!

Hi all,

Yesterday I began looking around the net for information on lock picking, I have always been interested in how it works but never really found out how. I read the MIT guide and then found this website which I think is brilliant. I went out this morning and bought a 5-pin BIRD stainless steel lock, a TRI-CIRCLE pad lock, a really small screw driver which i have used a dremmel to file down and shaped to use as a pick and an allen key that i have also filed down one end of to use as a tension wrench.

The tools i made didn't even have time to cool down before i set at the 5 pin, after a few minutes of trying i managed to pick it and repeated this 5 or 6 times, but the time it took kept varying from 1 to 20 minutes. I then tried the padlock but am finding it really hard going so left it for a bit and went back to the 5 pin, picked that sucessfully a couple more times, but now its like i have hit a brick wall and i can't seem to pick either of them now. If anyone can offer any advise i would really appreciate it.

grrr i'm still trying but now i just can't get the 5 pin lock to turn, it was so easy earlier, but now it just won't cooperate with me.

Please help or advise

Well then, it would appear as if you hit the same problem as me, only reworded a little. I too came here looking for help, and in a couple of weeks, I haven't come across a pin or wafer tumbler I can't pick yet. Not bragging, but I am a lot better than I was two weeks ago. Well, enough about my problems, go to my old post and read it, maybe your questions will be answered there:
