Medeco

Postby Menion » 21 Jan 2005 1:00

I picked a medeco once, have one at the shop I played with all the time, once a few years ago it just sorta popped open. Spent three weeks trying to duplicate the feat then just sorta threw the lock down and havent messed with it since. it was just luck that got it open, somewhere ive got a picture of the lock with the plug half turned and a turning wrench sticking out of it. course that dosnt really prove much heh. I do find that on some medeco locks you can tell when you have the pins picked.. true dosnt help with the sidebar engaged but it makes me wonder if from that you could decode the depths and then use some kinda progression cut on the angles to get the lock open.

sounds more like it was using normal pins OR the sidebar was missing

Medecos are hard to pick, to be sure. There are, however, other methods of bypass, such as decoding and impressioning. Falle produces an ultra- complex decoder for Medeco locks, which provides data that can be used to produce a key. Good luck getting your hands on one if you don't work for the CIA or MI6.

picking medeco

Postby raimundo » 22 Jan 2005 12:36

If you remove the sidebar, and the spool pins and replace it with say a few collums of non security top pins, you can impress people by easily picking a medeco. But have another cylinder on hand to give to the competition when they want to try. (I haven't done this, I'm just suspicious minded)
