17 piece lockpcik kit. or 14 piece lock pick kit- metal handles
they are both the same price but the 17 has more picks so are they better. Or do they have less quality of metal then the 14 peice?

Which kit are you looking at?
Blackwave rated the 17 piece SO with the "handle" pretty good, but I havent tried them myself. The 14 piece I cant find.

I think that for beginner lockpickers, quality of metal is not such an issue as the size and design of the picks.
My impression is that a variety of hook and diamond picks in varying depths, both full size and slimline, is better to start with than a set of weird and wonderfully shaped gizmos with only one or two hooks and diamonds included. Consider making up your own set by buying picks and wrenches individually. Be open to the idea of making your own tension tools, even if you make nothing else.

Kraft kraft kraft.... Personally, I like the set from peterson picks called "just picks." They're a really good company that makes excellent tools at a good price. I've got to hand it to you guy, you taken more than your share of beatings on this site but you're chugging along quite nicely. Keep at it...

For every one we flame, there are a least six more that see it and don't want it to happen to them. At least, that's the theory involved.

He's a kid and doesn't write well, but I think in this case his question has a little validity. As long as he's pursuing this sincerely, and it appears that he is, we oughta help him. I for one am not going to lord my age and education over this guy, I'm gonna help him when I can.

lol thx alot guyes, I found out that just by reading. That the 14 peace set, is the same price. Not for the quality of metal, but because it comes with a key extractor.

No actually....
It's because they have MORE metal. They are reinforced handles. That means there is a stip of metal on either side of the handle part of the pick. This improves their strength, and tends to make them feel better in your hands.
