I got them for $90 used.

So when you examine the Falle-Safe picks, how different are they from ones you could make yourself?

They are electroplated and very smooth. Im assuming you could make similar picks.

Is there anything special about the material Falle-Safe picks are made out of? It seems like, with patience, the shapes should be easily duplicated with a bench grinder.

you are right. The picks could easily be duplicated and I have images of them against a scale that will be on the ftp site once it is back up. the difference I have seen is the handle area of the pick is about 1.5 times the width of a southord. You may be able to get that width from a hacksaw blad but you may see some waviness in your pick where the teeth were. Best bet would be shim stock. Kind of pricey but it makes beautiful picks.

The onlything special about the material is far as I can tell is the electroplating which makes them very smooth.
