Can't get past 3 pins

Postby Uisgdlyast » 3 Feb 2005 20:06

To make it short i got a deadbolt, put the pins in so most were the same length, got up to 3 and could do it easily but ive been stuck on 4. Went back down to 3 pins, easy. Then i switched the 3 pins so there was a big difference in length(how it was originally keyed) and i also can't open it that way.

Also as someone said before, usually when i open it it feels like luck, i can usually feel one pin set then i try the first pin and it opens, i can never really feel the last pin go up and i'm never really sure when i'm actually pushing up on the pins unless i hear or see it. Will i be able to feel the pins with more practice?

Thanks, also does taking the lock apart a lot wear it down? i've taken it apart about 20 times so far to change pins, etc.

as cliche as it sounds, it's really just practice. going from 3 ro 4pin was a huge step for me when i was first learning. But once you pass it comfortably the rest just flyes by and soon you'll be picking all 6/7pins in no time.
