When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

there have been a lot of questions as to which tubular pick people should buy. 7 or 8. So i thought i could help them out. This is a pole designed to show which, if either, is more popular.

I would suggest a 7 pin, but that's just my personal preference. I have not run into 8 pin locks in the course of my service years, (but have seen) 8 pin locks, therefore could not justify the expense of purchasing one.

Just my opinion.

Don't you listen to Deion?

BOTH!

I have both HPC's, and the peterson pro-1a (which does both), and right now my kitchen table is full of parts because I'm designing my own tool, based somewhat on the HPC but with modifications to make the harder locks (ACEII + changematic) more easy.

I would say, if you have the money, bye both. The minute you decide to stay with a 7, that is when you will run into an 8 pin lock
