New Movie

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

New Movie

Postby PYRO1234321 » 4 Dec 2003 19:33

I've been browsing this site for a long time now and figured it was time to register. Thanks to everyone who has ever posted, since i've read at least 90% of the posts and have gained a lot of information and skill. My skills are intermediate at best, but for the last few years or so, i've been hooked on hobby picking. I've gone full circle it seems when it comes to picks. I've made them out of everything imaginable, then bought a bunch while working in California, then went back to making my own (which i find more rewarding and of better quality).

My main reason for posting is to tell everyone that i've almost completed an instructional video that teaches how to manufacter a basic pick set. Its a little slapped togeather, but I think it illustrates the best methods that that i could come up with (much of it learned through this site). I'm hoping it will put an end to the "how do i make picks..." posts that are very common, and help people from having to go through the trial and error that i did. I'm hoping it will also be a valuable addition to the far-and-few-between lock picking free videos available online.

Soooo, Here are the details: All footage is shot and assembled, just a matter of finishing details. its less than 30 min long, i havn't done the final video compression quite yet, but i'm aiming at 30-50 megs. I appoligize to anyone with a dial-up modem :? but its a quantity/quality issue.

I would like it if someone could give me a fews ideas as to where i can post it online. or better yet, if someone would be willing to host it?

I'll post when its completed (in a few days at most) and figure out a way to get it to anyone (i.e. site moderators?) who whould like to have a first go at it....

Cheers.

I'd go to Yahoo Groups. Create your own Group and post it there. I'd love to join and see the video when it's up, just keep us posted.

Yahoo Groups will not host this because it is too large.

My suggestion is to compress the movie with the DivX Codec then zip-it with maximum compression in a .zip file.

What is the resolution of the movie?

I would also suggest spliting it up into 10mb files, these will take about 1 hour for a 56k user to download. My friend has a ftp server, i'll ask him if you want to host the file excusivly so the moderators can download it, because bandwidth is presious to him, not to mention he hosts a website aswell.

If YOU are a broadband user, and you wouldn't mind hosting this file, but you dont know how to, then download Bulletproof FTP Server at
http://www.bpftpserver.com/ If you go onto the downloads section, you can download a free 30 day trial, which is enough to get lots of people to download it. I now say some stuff I shouldn't say as it is illegal, so I am very glad the forum nazi Pheniox edited my post

Edited for suggesting illegal activites. http://www.lockpicking101.com/viewtopic.php?t=715 Rule #8. Edited by Pheniox

lol. *Hangs Head in Shame*

My friend says he will host the movie, so PYRO1234321 when you have finished the movie PM me and i'll give you the details for the ftp server. If you have broadband then to save time you could give me and my friend the uncompressed movie and we would compress it and all that (We are experts at that kind of thing) But thats up to you.

hey i know this is an old thread, and i'm new around here, but would be it possible for any of u folks who have this video to upload it somewhere for downloading? I've tried the regular links already (ie., the one at viewtopic.php?t=588), and i've tried searching through the forums as well, but not found one working link.

u know what? i found a bunch of stuff as well, but until recently all the links were the old link, or links that didnt work. Anyway, i found that same thread where this link (and a *much* better and faster link) was posted too. Was just reading through all of the pages and hadnt gotten to that last page yet...

if you can't find a stable host, something you could try is to create it, then create a gmail account and email it that account since it will hol dup to 1000megs.
