When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.
These are my first picks i am making out of hacksaws, is not complete yet, and most of them are still rough and unpolished, but before wasting my time i wish to know if the design is correct..
on the bottom there are 2 picks i designed for Yale locks, they must be extremely thin to work on those..
Any suggestion is appreciated..
I used a coarse grinder with a brass polishing wheel, and dremel with steel high duty cutting disks.
:p
They look good to me. If you are looking for more pick making ideas check out Matt Blaze's web site http://www.crypto.com/photos/misc/picks/ he has some excelent photos of different brands of picks next to a scale.
They look lovely to me. On a technical note, the top pick in your picture. I've never heard anyone say anything good about that design of pick unless its been modified slightly. You see, there is alot of stress on the thinest part of your pick, making it very easy to break off in a lock. You should look up a few of Raimundo's posts on pick making. A quick look at his diagrams concernign making "undercuts" will hep you to make that pick pattern not only stronger, but profoundly more useful.
