LAB Lockpicks: Buying Help Please

Postby behavioral restraint » 3 Dec 2003 14:51

I am looking to buy this LAB lock pick set---->LAB model LPT015 kit, but I am unable to find a dealer. Could someone please help me.

PS, I am not really interested in buying a South Ord set. I just would like to experiment with this set, since this is what Matt Blaze recommends on his web site. TIA!

Got a link or a picture of what the set looks like?

It problably won't help, but never mind.

They used to have a picture of the 15 piece set, but it was removed some weeks ago. (discontinued?)

Your best bet, especially if you know exactly what you want for picks, would probably be to order from www.lockpickshop.com and order the specific picks you want. Unless you want a lot of 'em, it'd probably be wiser to buy them individually, and to get new ones off the net.

It would potentially risky for one of us to buy them and send them to you.

If i´m not wrong lockpickshop.com only sells SouthOrd picks, and i´ve got the impression that behavioral restraint knows perfecly what he wants, and that´s LAB´s picks, not SouthOrd´s. (i can understand perfectly to him  )

In some case modifing a SouthOrd pick he could get an approximated version of a LAB pick, but that´s hard not having the measures.

Regards.

I would also like to know where to get lab picks and prices. The notes on picking gives the url www.lab-lockpins.com but they don't seem to sell them to individuals or even give prices or name distributors :(

I have a set of majestic picks and would like to try the lab picks after reading the notes on picking and looking at the pix.

I know this is an old thread, but I can't seem to find a distributor and was wondering if anyone else had.

Locksmiths Please note:
LAB products are sold through distributors only.
Please call or email us and we will provide you with the name of a local distributor.
Calling is the quickest method during normal business hours.
LAB Products are stocked by all major lock hardware distributors.

As suggested by varjeal, try emailing a few online stores and ask if they can order it in specially. Go to locksmith suppliers and they should have them if not ask for them to order in.

If you are not a locksmith, it is a matter of how hard do you want these because I have the opinion I am taking what I can get. What I can't is not worth worring about. Is there anything so special about these that I should try?

Zelgadis mentions it is hard to make similar picks, however the link a few posts above has a picture with a ruler..

As far as I know there is nothing so special about these picks that I can't accomplish with something that I allready own. On the other had though, if I want to try something out and I can find a site that sells the picks individually I will usually order a few and see how I like them.

The only thing "special" about Rytan picks is some of their handles, but that definitely doesn't justify paying extra dollars or working too long to try and find a reseller. There's lots of brands like Peterson's and others that have comfortable handles.

Although I haven't gotten a chance to use them, the Brockhage Navigator set seems interesting. Comfortable looking handles, plus picks for dimple key locks including Mul-T-Lock. Probably cheaper as a whole set than the Souber tools set from most dealers.

They're the best picks I've ever tried. My ONE complaint is that they don't have a diamond hook -- but you can always just buy a couple of Rytans anyway.

Unlucky!

The only UK supplier I'm aware of wouldn't sell them to me, so I guess I'll just have to order them from the US.
