Hello all. First off this site is by far the coolest site i have seen in a few years.

Here is the deal, im wanting to learn it all, but first im going to start with simple stuff and work my way up to safes i hope.

Well im going to try and make a snap gun at home, but im also going to order the snap gun kit and the electric pick gun as well just to have the toys:)

Any who im wondering how will the electric gun workes compared to the electric gun?

And where can i buy these items?

Thank you a lot 8)
Well i want to learn the art of lock picking so i think im in the right place:)

Oh i want to know for 'Educational" purposes BTW:p

Welcome, now checkout the faq section and a lot of these answers are in there. Do a search for the pickguns as many things have been posted already on these subjects. Make the search facilty your best friend and you will soon realise how much information that has already been posted before and your head will explode with the amount of knowledge on this site already.

Welcome to Lp101! You can find the items you are looking for at lockpickshop.com or southord.com. As toomush mentioned the search tool is very helpful. Good-luck.

Hello (or is it 'good day') and welcome. To avoid being flamed always try to search for the answers to your questions first. Also check out the FAQ section of the site (http://www.lockpicking101.com/viewforum.php?f=2) and read it over.

I owned both an electric and manual pick gun but I don't really find them that useful. First they do take some practice to get used to (maybe I haven't invested enough time) but they seem to 'top out' on openings just a little bit above manual raking and well below where you can get picking (just my opinion, your milage may vary). So in short, I really won't start with a pick gun. Get/make some picks and build from there.

FYI: Tons of great places to buy from: LockPickShop.com (helps sponsor LP101), lockpicks.com, unlockables.com (no personal experience, but others said OK), and lockpicktools.net (seems to be Southord but with cheaper prices). Stay away from 'spy shops' they are always way over priced.

Im in Manitoba BTW:) So some people think pick guns and electric guns are not as usefull as a lock pick set?

Hmmm im not sure i would be that good at useing a pick set, but i've never tried

Any who i will look into the faq's, but in all honesty most of the time i need to "SIFT" through the pages of text and that takes lots of time compared to a simple question that can be answered quickly 8)

Ok hope i don't get flamed for this, but what types of locks will a pick gun and electric gun open? Regular door type locks?

A small list of locks that will/can be opened would be helpfull.

Oh ya i notice a lot of places don't ship to Canada :(

Any help there?

Thanks folks:)

Okay, it isn't really the brand of lock, but the pin setup. Locks with spool pins and other traps are not easily picked via pick gun or vibrating pick guns. I've opened some locks with a pick gun in seconds and others refuse to open. Also old, rusty locks with sticky pins will not open with a pickgun.

It this very reason others have to "sift" through loads of the same type of posts and the same questions time and time again. Patience is a great aid to lockpicking

I fail to see the point of "lockpicking" if your gonna use a pickgun.
Get a set of picks , and use them first .
Pickguns/snapguns are all fine and dandy , but you will learn pretty much nothing.

You learn the fundamentals of picking first by using lockpicks, then if you feel so inclined go "electric" :-)

Me i could not be bothered , no fun in opening a lock using a gun.

As previously stated , do a search, use google also.
Hey we all have to "sift" through stuff to find what we want , that's half the fun!

Then you ask a specific question about the choice you made, lock your picking etc .

the best pickgun is the half inch rotary with the cobalt bit, but if that dosent work, try the oxyace sparkle wrench.

I use the sledgehammer myself rather than the oxy wand - it has a certain "final" quality that I find lacking in lockpicks (plus I'm just waaay too dangerous with gas!)
sledgehammers make excellent back up picks!
