Anoying lockwoods (wont open)

Hey I got s few lockwoods (234, 245) and the cylinder just doesn't turn, I pick all the pins so they seem to set and the lock should open, but it doesn't. All I can come up with is the cylinder is either jammed(but i dont think it is cause iv got it open before) or im pushing the pins above the shear line.

Anyway its anoying the hell outa me, any ideas on hot to open it??

I have no real need for it to be open, i just want to be able to open it, but I will give you a go... its allways nice to know its possable

Ok...

Do these steps, any that dont apply...Skip

1. Check to see if you can open it with a key
2. Does the inner core or "Plug" move at least a little bit
3. Are the pins binding
4. Try picking it in both directions, as in try turning left and right
5. If you have Re-keyed it did you use really big springs, if so they can do some bad things like slide down the side of a pin or just pusy so hard the shear line is near impossible to get...

I dont have the key, the plug does move, I can get all the pins to set but the lock just doesnt open(the plug just doesnt turn.

Are you sure that you are setting the pins?, some may of got stcuke between the plug and the housing.

Hmm that may be it, but I cant seem to pick it, and it should be easy because I know its keyed poorly and should be able to be picked easy...

Locks that have been keyed poorly...i wonder who keyed that...

A poorly keyed lock can be more of a pain than a BiLock on a rainy day.

Its keyed the same as my abus was and I could pick that in a few seconds, and I used to be able to pick it really quickly.

have you looked at the pins... i ran into a situation where i didn't know there was a security pin in a lock once and the very same thing happened to me. i set all the pins right but there was a mushroom pin in there that i didn't know about and it gave me a hell of a frestration.

in my case when i get that frustrated i took the lock apart and figured that that the pin was there and all made snece. maybe you have that situation... just a thought. worked in my case. when all else fails disassemble and learn.

I would, but I don't have the key so I need to pick it to open it up, unless I cut the bolt and just keep the cylnder, hmm not a bad idea that.

its not easy holding one of them cylinders..

Tasty, cut 2.8cm up from the bottom and 1.5 cm deep.

Lockwoods can be bitches sometimes..especially ones that have been sitting in the heat for 10 years =(

Lockwood 234's and 245's can be some of the hardest locks to pick.

Even after all my years of locksmith I don't bother. Just drill out the pin plugs.

You could try drilling out the pin plugs and remove all pins. Now test that locks actually work. Then replace one pin at a time and try picking.
