hmm, well... so how many differant destructive methods have we gone though now??? somewhere near ALOT!, jees, cant you just pick the damm lock, or while where on the topic of bull**** why dont you get a a "hollywood style" chunk of c4 (about as big as your fist like in the movies) and try blow the lock up?? hell you'll proberly blow up your shed to, but hey, its not my shead... or legs, arms, face... life in genral for that matter...
but really, like i said, just pick the dam lock.

i think anywhere from 7,000-10,000
If you got that much money to spend on a gun... well i'm guessing there are a lot of ways to finish that sentence.
What i want to know is where do you shoot one of those things off without it being highly dengerous? Can you take it to the shooting range?

[offtopicreply] it was fine, i got to work on upstageing ollies pic on his calculater hehe[offtopicreply]
make her smile?? like with fishhooks in the corner of her mouth??
im sorry people, this was really off topic and useless to anyone who dosn't go to our school. back to the gun crazed ways to open a lock, like pouring high-octane fuel on the door and give it a few hours and the door, lock, and most things around it should in theroy be melted(it burns up 2200deg.)

Actually a .50 cal sniper rifle will run you anywhere from $2,000 (used) - $8,000 (new) And no you cannot take it to a shooting range. It has been declared a fire hazard. (the ammunition is made to start fires) But you can take it to the "out of city limits" boundaries and shoot the hill side or take it to deserts and shoot. I go across a lake to a very hilly area and set up targets that are in front of a hill of dirt rather than grass so I don't start fires. And in the desert if you hit sand then it's all good. Just don't hit any sage brush (or at least anything near it) Just practice good gun safety and all is well. But yes, I agree, this has gotten really off topic. Just use a good ol' fashioned pick and get in that sucker.

if you're going to go as far as a sniper rifle or thermite... why not just rent a bulldozer and have a go at it?

A bulldozer is just plain silly. Don't you know a fork lift is the proper way to open a locked door.

I often wonder why the threads with the least content go the longest.... I think it's one of the weird mysteries of the universe - allong with socks dissapearing randomly and the whole buttered toast falling thing...

I do have something to mention, but it's actually *on topic* so I hope that's OK.
In Locks, Safes, and Security Marc Tobias wrote:One well known technique for causing metal failure involves saturation of critical components with Freon. For example, the application of Freon to a padlock shackle, or certain armor plating on safes, followed by mechanical shock will cause fractures. (2nd Edition, Volume I, p55)
Seems that acording to Mr. Tobias it can and has been done.
