yale euro

allo chaps can any one give me any tips on picking a yale euro lock
ive been

trying to pick this lock for the the past 2 days luckily its not on a customers door i brought it to practice on but as yet con not get the cylinder to move a mm ive tryed racking scrubing &picking it laods of tension & little tension also what sort of time should it take to open please help before i pull my hair out cheerrrrrrrrs

It all depends how much you understand locks and whether you have practiced hard on easier locks. The best bet is to strip the lock down first to get an insight into whether it has mushrooms or other anti pick devices. You will find lots of links on this site to show you how to strip it down so I will not repeat it on this thread. Rebuild the lock a pin at a time and practice picking it until you can pick it with all pins in. Start with an anti pick pins first to get the feel for it.

Hi Glecky,
You can rake and scrubb those pins for toffee's but that lock wont open unless you use the correct tension! 50% of picking is using that right tension, something a lot of picker's forget!
Try picking using different tension techniques!

only thing i can open with my southord pick gun is the bloody battery holder, thinking about getting a hpc one see if i fair any better.

Keep the southord Gee, It's not the electric gun's, it's the user!
There's no real difference in the gun's, except the southord has replacement battery's! Use rechargables and keep them charged, it's nicer to use than the hpc, and a lot quieter! Im tending to use my southord over my hpc!
Get use to it, it's an underestimated classy little tool!

again its preference, i have both and find HPC far superior commercialy , though it is each to his own, and the best tool is the one that works for you.

I didn't say it was better Pinky, i said i find it nicer to use.
If i was on the bust it & scram runs i'd use nothing else than the hpc, but i do like to treat locks like i treat women, i find the southord let's the lock keep a bit of dignity and let's it show a little character!

I think the trouble with the electric pick is that i get pissed of with it not opening any thing so i then revert to the hand picks.
truth be known i need to spend some serious time with it and practice.
ps. i am talking about the pick gun and not the wife :lol:
